Linux Solutions 2009 - OW2 Conference - Scarbo : Going BPM on SCA

Open Wide introduces Scarbo, his new, open, service-oriented process management solution, in the final talk of the "SCA by OW2" track of the annual OW2 Conference at Solutions Linux 2009.

In this final presentation of the  SCA by OW2  track of the annual OW2 Conference given at  Solutions Linux 2009  on Thursday, April the 2nd, Marc Dutoo, R&D Lead at Open Wide, explains how the newly released  Scarbo  solution builds on the  Service Component Architecture  (SCA) standard to provide service-oriented process management (SOA BPM) that is not tied to a given technology.

Built on existing Open Source  Eclipse  and OW2 components, released as Open Source software at the  OW2 Consortium  , Scarbo is the result of 2 years of  sponsored  research and development by Open Wide and its  partners .

Alfresco Meetup - ETL Connector & Talend

Business Processes on top of SCA-based Service Oriented Architectures

In a technical presentation given at the ICT 2008 congress, Mickaël Istria, Open Source Architect at Open Wide, shows how to get value out of Service Oriented Architectures (SOA) thanks to Business Process Management (BPM) and the SCA standard.

Having Service Oriented Architecture in your information system enables business agility, but business processes let your users put this agility to good uses.

At the  Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) '08   Congress (27th November, Lyon), Open Wide presented the results of its work in the  SCOrWare   research consortium, a 2 year, 10 partners, 2.5M€ research project funded by the French National Research Agency ( ANR  ). In  this presentation   and the companion flash demonstration (upcoming on this site), Mickaël Istria, Open Source Architect at Open Wide, shows how to get value out of Service Oriented Architectures (SOA) thanks to Business Process Management (BPM) and especially workflows, and how a new "Task Engine Framework" along with the SCA (Service Component Architecture) standard and its  OW2 Frascati   implementation allows to integrate service-oriented interactions in any kind of Java process engine.

JWT at the Eclipse Summit Europe 2008

This short presentation of how Eclipse Java Workflow Tooling (JWT) will collaborate with the SOA Tools Project (STP) was given at the Eclipse Summit Europe '08 in Ludwigsburg, Germany.

This short presentation of how  Eclipse Java Workflow Tooling (JWT)  collaborates with the  SOA Tools Project (STP) and especially its Intermediate Metamodel was given by Marc Dutoo, R&D Leader at Open Wide, during STP's session at the  Eclipse Summit Europe '08  in Ludwigsburg, Germany, and was written in "night session" as a collaborative effort with Florian Lautenbacher and Christian Saad, researchers at the  University of Augsburg  , all JWT committers.

Much thanks to Oisin Hurley of Iona and STP project lead for giving a share of his allotted time.

SOA in Action - The OW2 way

While SOA is at its roots built on decoupling and good practices, it is the opposite of a one-dimensional approach.

In this presentation given on the OW2 TechDays "SOA Track" at the  Open World Forum  (Le Monde du Libre) in December 2008 in Paris, Marc Dutoo, R&D Leader at Open Wide at Open Wide, shows how SOA actually puts face to face the diversity of information systems and the multiplicity of technologies, and how methodology asks for a unified SOA and business process vision at solution market, business and technical levels.

Main topics are :

  • The many faces of SOA - Back to SOA basics - Runtime platforms for SOA
  • SOA for Agility - Business Agility through modeling the user's requirements - BPM and SOA, a match in heaven
  • From the trenches, a concrete example, using  OW2  components and Eclipse tools
